Hello there,
When I tried to install it, got this error
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in …\themelib\wp-content\plugins\wp-marketer\wp-marketer.php on line 240
Please help.
Hi,
Haven’t seen that error before. Can you let me know what version of WP you’re running and we’ll look into it right away.
Thanks,
Steve
Hi there i’m also having some kind of error, running on WP 2.6.5.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home/blogpira/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-marketer/tabulator_navigation.php on line 5
woow thanks
Hi Stun,
Thanks for replying with the error message. We have tested the plugin on several sites running WP 2.6.5 so I’m wondering if this is a conflict with another plugin that also uses “tabular” navigation in WP Admin. We’ll look into this further and provide an update on Monday.
If anybody else has encountered an error please leave your comment here with as much detail as you can provide so that we can log the bug and resolve ASAP.
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks for reporting the error Jay. Can you tell us please what version of PHP your server is running and what type of server you have (ie shared, VPS or dedicated server). We cannot reproduce this error after trying to on several WP sites and servers so we still trying to resolve this one. Also, please be sure to download the 1.0.1 version of WPMarketer from wordpress.org as we have made several updates to the code already and expect to update again in the next day or 2.
Thanks again for your help,
Steve
sorry, i dont know if this is the place to ask a question, but here it is. Iim new to wp, and when i was looking at instructions on the download, it says to upload the top level folder. what exactly do i need to upload? all the files? just the top level folder, which like i said im new, which one is it? Thanx for any help to clarify the upload process.
Hi webchaser,
No problem. To install simply upload the wp-marketer folder and all its contents (files and subfolders) into your wp-content/plugins folder. So, in your FTP client you should then see: wp-content/plugins/wp-marketer, with the WPMarketer files and subfolders in the wp-marketer folder. You should then be able to activate the plugin. Please let me know if you need any further help getting it uploaded and activated!

Hi Steve,
the latest version (1.02) of wp-marketer also produces this error. My wordpress is running on a shared hosting account with php 4.3.11. Also there seems to be some overlap between the wp-affiliate and the wp-marketer plugin, on another hosting account of mine (where wp-marketer is working fine) there were some glitches when both plugins were active, are they based on the same code?
Cheers,
Jay
The error that most people are seeing occurs because the .php extension defaults to PHP 4 on their web server. The easiest fix is to add a handler that maps .php to PHP 5. If you have cPanel, you can do this easily by clicking on “Apache Handlers” and adding a mapping for “php” to “application/x-httpd-php5″ and that should fix the problem.
That said, I get a SQL error when trying to activate the latest plugin:
You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘collate latin1_general_ci NOT NULL, `link_str_href` text col
That’s version 1.0.3. Version 1.0.0 activates fine, however.
If it helps, the site I’m using it on is hosted on ResellerZoom.
Eric
Thanks Eric,
We have corrected the SQL error you reported in version 1.0.4 released this morning. Please let me know if you have any problems installing this version.
Also in 1.0.4 we have limited the auto linking feature to work only within the Wordpress Content Loop, which prevents auto links from appearing in areas such as the header, footer or sidebar.
Also, thank you for pointing out the PHP4 handler issue. We will add notes on this for effected users in our FAQs shortly.
Regards,
Steve
PS – Hoping everybody will continue to share their feedback and insights into additional features to consider adding in future releases!
I tried to install WP Marketer 1.07 today.
Error Message: Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error. Too big column length for column ’session_id’ (max = 255). Use BLOB instead.

Hi Manila, Thanks for providing such great details. We have tested and debugged the code based on your input and this problem should be resolved in the latest version of WPMarketer (1.0.8), which is now available for downloading. Let us know if you have any problems with this update or confirm the problem is resolved if you would please. Steve
This plugin is nowhere near ready for use on a live site… I will keep an eye on it though
wpmarketer is a great plugin, but I did find a problem when activating another plugin
auto social plugin and wpmarketer will not work together, Im not sure why.
It only seems to be redirecting http://blackbookproject.net/recommends/maverick-money-makers to http://www.maverickmoneymakers.com/?hop=mike365 Its not holding the cloaked link in the address bar. Any suggestions
I am having the same issue that others in this thread are reporting when attempting to activate this plugin. Here’s what I see:
Since I was testing this in a sandbox environment, and not on the production site, I was more able to mess around with other plugins. In fact, I turned off ALL plugins, and only reactivated this one plugin, and still got the error. I’m no programmer, but this suggests that it’s not because of plugin interaction.
It doesn’t appear to be PHP 4 vs. 5 either, in my case. Here’s what I’m running (on shared hosting):
Apache version 2.2.11 (Unix)
PHP version 5.2.8
MySQL version 5.0.67-community-log
Architecture x86_64
Operating system Linux
The idea of this plugin is great, so I hope we can make it work. Any debugging suggestions are welcome, and if you have any suggestions, I’m open to ideas. As I said, it’s not on the production site (though it is on the same server…) so I’m more than willing to experiment.
Try make import/export list of link feature in the new version, will be very usefull
Hey are you guys still with us? Is this project still going forward?
